We are not alone!
In addition to Residents 3000, there are 2 other residential associations in the CBD – but, be assured, we all work closely together. Why is there more than one, you ask…..
The reasons are mainly historical. As the residential population grew, people became aware of “local” issues – mainly around planning. As we have said, City people soon get to know others in their neighbourhood; so when issues arose they banded together to handle them.
So we have EastEnders Inc. in the north east (roughly the area within Bourke, Spring, LaTrobe and Swanston Streets) and the Hardware Precinct Resident and Tenants Group (the area between Elizabeth, Bourke, Spencer and LaTrobe Streets).
We attend each other’s committee and other meetings, make submissions together, and we jointly used to publish a newsletter “Our Neighbourhood” (go to Old Newsletters in Index)) about 4 times a year.We have now moved to this website format and continue to connect with each other in many different ways.

Coalition of residents and businesses
There is a Coalition of Residents and Business Associations (CoRBA) which also includes residents groups from OUTSIDE the CBD, but within the Municipality of Melbourne – which spreads north, south, east and west.The “B” in CoRBA represents the Business Council (Melbourne).
